If you moved to Lagos and you are trying to meet people, the honest answer is not a bar. It is a 6am run club on a Saturday morning.
Lagos has developed one of the most serious amateur running scenes in Africa over the last decade. Lekki-Ajah Runners, Eko Runners, Metro Runners and half a dozen others meet weekly, free, on the Lekki-Epe expressway service lanes and around the Island before the traffic wakes up. Nobody asks what you do. You run, you finish, you eat at a food spot afterwards, and by the third week you have a group. It is by a wide margin the fastest route into Lagos social life for a newcomer, and it costs nothing.
The gyms below are worth joining on their own merits, but read them with that in mind: the sociable ones are the class-based studios and the ones attached to a community, not the hotel gyms. Padel has also arrived in Lagos in the last two years and is spreading fast among the Island professional set — it is doubles-only, which makes it structurally social in a way that a treadmill is not.
